Youth Parliament Competitions like MUN are organized to strengthen the roots of democracy, instill discipline, promote tolerance of differing views, and familiarize students with parliamentary procedures. These competitions aim to foster active citizenship among the youth, engage in intellectual discourse, present arguments, counter opposing viewpoints, and defend their stances. The goal is to hone students’ public speaking skills and teach them to express their thoughts and opinions articulately. These events also serve as platforms for developing critical thinking, research skills, teamwork, and confidence.

Recently, Delhi Public School, Bathinda, participated in the ‘Nyay Nityam’ Youth Parliament Competition (MUN) on May 4th and 5th. The event, conducted by the Department of Law at the Central University of Punjab, Ghudda, featured two committees: UNGA (Kishore Sabha) and Lok Sabha (Tarun Sabha). The debate competition topic was ‘Social Media – A Boon or Curse?’ It is a moment of great pleasure to announce that DPS delegates won the following awards:

Saluting the spirit of unwavering dedication of mothers towards their kids, DPS junior wing (city branch) celebrated a beautiful event in high spirits and merriment with the mothers of children of UKG class on May 18, 2024. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Geetika Garg, a renowned dentist .She was welcomed by the school principal Mr. Jatinder Kumar Saini. The program commenced with a heart throbbing Jaggo and a welcome dance by the teachers which was dedicated to all the mothers present there. The performance set the tone for a wonderful event and was followed by a number of fun games and activities. Mothers enthusiastically participated in the games and their cheerfulness was reflecting on their lovely faces. The winners were felicitated by the guest and the principal.

At the end of the program, the guest Dr. Geetika, in her speech, emphasized the need of self care as mothers are the backbone of the family. The principal, in his address to the mothers, mentioned the importance and need of regular involvement of parents in school activities and thanked the gathering for the unwavering support.

The in charge Ms. Jaspreet Kaur congratulated the mothers and the team for the resounding success of the event and appreciated the mothers for strengthening the bond of love between the school and parents with their active involvement in such activities. The event left beautiful imprints and memories in the hearts of all.

Delhi Public School Bathinda celebrated Mother’s Day on May 9, 2024 for classes Nursery – VI with a unique initiative titled “Role of Mother in Skill Development.” The school invited mothers to participate in the program, where they played an active role in teaching various skills to the children.

The mothers donned the hats of instructors for the day, guiding the children in activities ranging from dance, poetry recitation and storytelling to arts and crafts, food without fire and even health and hygiene. This provided a valuable opportunity for the children to learn from their mothers and bond with them in a new setting.

The Principal Mr. J.K. Saini personally met and addressed the mothers, expressing his appreciation for their participation and underlining the importance of their role in shaping their children’s skills. Dr. Anu Sandeep Kaur, the coordinator of Primary classes, also extended her gratitude to the mothers for their time and efforts.

Among the 110 talented debaters from all over Punjab and adjoining states, Shubhneet Kaur of class 10 A from Delhi Public School Bathinda emerged and bagged the winner’s Trophy by clinching the coveted first prize. Her articulate arguments and persuasive delivery captured the attention of the jury, earning her accolades.

In recognition of her outstanding performance, Shubhneet Kaur was presented with a gleaming trophy and an appreciation certificate.

Delhi Public School, Bathinda organized a one-day trip to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala for students from classes 6th to 10th, totaling 573 participants in the first week of May 2024.

This educational excursion provided students with a valuable experience, allowing them to engage in hands-on learning, exploration, and inspiration. Beyond enriching their grasp of scientific concepts, students honed critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. These trips are instrumental in complementing classroom education, nurturing a lasting passion for science and technology among students.

The little ones were provided with cut-outs of Earth and green colour paper were pasted by kids and made a smile.

To make the day even more interactive, Teachers organized a role play where they played different characters like trees, water, animals, and responsible citizens to demonstrate how each one of us can contribute towards a healthier planet.

Rhymes have always been a great way to engage young children, students recited rhymes related to the environment and learnt about the importance of preserving our planet.

DPS junior wing (city branch) provided a valuable opportunity to its tiny tots to understand the importance of the ‘Mother Earth’ on the occasion of ‘Earth day’ on April 22, 2024, through a role play and enactment by the teachers. In the role play, teachers created a classroom scene and highlighted the importance of saving water and keeping the surroundings clean and made children aware that neglecting all this, will ultimately affect our earth. Children were amazed seeing their teachers acting like small kids. The role play was followed by a discussion with the children about what they learnt from the celebration. It turned out to be a wonderful way to inspire the little children to contribute to protect the ‘Mother Earth’.

Focused on the theme of “Good Health & Well-being,” the program provided a platform for young minds to share their views on various aspects of healthy living.

From the importance of self-awareness in understanding one’s needs to the undeniable advantages of regular exercise, the students explored a diverse range of topics. They championed the importance of healthy eating habits, emphasizing the role of nutritious food choices in fueling their bodies and minds. The importance of hygiene wasn’t forgotten either, as students highlighted its role in preventing the spread of germs and maintaining a healthy environment.

The children gathered into their classes to watch the comedy movie. After the movie, it was time for the next exciting adventure – the fun photos session. The children excitedly took turns posing with their friends, striking comical poses, and showcasing their best funny faces. The sound of giddy laughter resonated throughout the room, capturing treasured memories of joy and amusement. The children’s laughter created the perfect atmosphere for a day filled with positive energy and warmth.

College Access Programme”, a unique initiative of the DPS Society for students of Classes XI and XII.

Education in DPS Bathinda is not only restricted to teaching the core subjects but extends to guidance and counselling of students at each grade of their academic journey, classes X and XII top the list as the students move to much delicate decisions about their career advancement. DPS Schools as members of DPS Society, New Delhi, started a unique “ College Access Programme 2023-24, aimed at equipping students with comprehensive knowledge and guidance for higher education pursuits. Through a series of webinars, the program offered invaluable insights into the intricate admission processes of both foreign and domestic universities.
These sessions elaborated on timelines, requirements, and strategies essential for successful applications, and scholarship schemes for admissions in foreign and domestic universities.

What sets this initiative apart is its holistic approach, addressing not just the technicalities of admissions but also fostering informed decision-making regarding future career pathways. Topics included SAT, IELTS, and admissions in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia etc.

As a follow-up of this initiative, DPS Bathinda has set up a much-desired career guidance cell within the campus, to extend support to students. The teacher in-charge Mrs. Meenakshi Chaudhary attended all the sessions with students to help students follow up with the admission process.
